New URLA: Cloudvirga Is Ready
URLA—the new uniform residential loan application form—has been optional since January 1, 2021 but on March 1 it will be mandatory. This means all new Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac applications must be submitted using the new form and the updated automated underwriting specs.
Lenders have the option of submitting loans using the old URLA form until March 1, and those loans can be processed until the final retirement date of March 1, 2022. But don’t wait too long, because when the retirement date arrives old form loans will not be accepted, even if they are dated prior to March 1, 2021.
Both GSEs have designated Cloudvirga as an approved vendor to generate and support the redesigned form in our Originator Point of Sale System (OPOS).
“Cloudvirga is very proud to have reached this milestone and is well positioned to continue to serve our customers. We’re grateful to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for their continued partnership.” – Jason Sitzman, VP Product Management.
Benefits of the new URLA
Better User Experience
The new form is designed to be dynamic and customizable based on the information provided by borrowers. Fields are formatted for clarity and enhanced for an easy user experience and digital process.
Simple & Transparent
Simple, more consistent fields for both borrowers & lenders. Borrowers can fill out related fields in a logical order, resulting in faster application complete times and ultimately quicker loan closings.
Reflective of the Modern Borrower
The form is modern. It includes notably absent but relevant fields such as email addresses and several fields for past and current employers (reflective of the gig economy). In addition, it has also removed outdated, obsolete fields.
